Make/Model/Year/OS/Serial Number (For Ex., a Macbook Pro from 2021, running Mac OS Tahoe, Version 26.5.2.)

1. Go to the Apple symbol at the very top-left of your screen and click it
2. Upon clicking the Apple Symbol a dropdown menu shows, seen below:
   
3. Select the first option, About This Mac
   
4. A pop-up window will appear (as seen below) on your screen. It indicates make/model/year/O.S./Version/Serial Number
   

Device Name (Hostname): Click the Apple symbol, then System Settings, then General, then About. The very first line, "Name," is your device name.

IP Address and MAC Address: Click the Apple symbol, then System Settings, then click Network in the left sidebar.

1. Click whichever connection has a green dot next to it (usually Wi-Fi if you are wireless, or Ethernet if you are plugged in with a cable)
2. If you are on Wi-Fi, click the Details... button next to the network name you are connected to
3. Your IP Address is shown right there (it looks like 192.168.1.24)
4. For the MAC Address, click Hardware in the left side of that same Details window. The line labeled MAC Address is what you want (it looks like a8:20:66:1b:9f:3c)

Heads up: newer Macs have a privacy feature that can show a fake "randomized" MAC address for each Wi-Fi network. The Hardware screen above shows the real one.

Make/Model/Year/OS (For Ex., a Dell Latitude 5540 from 2023, running Windows 11 Pro, Version 24H2.)

1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard at the same time. A small "Run" box will appear in the corner of your screen
2. Type msinfo32 into that box and press Enter
3. A window called "System Information" will pop up. Right near the top you will see everything you need:
   • System Manufacturer = the Make (Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.)
   • System Model = the Model (for ex., Latitude 5540)
   • OS Name = your operating system (for ex., Microsoft Windows 11 Pro)
   • Version = your OS version number
4. Serial Number: click the Start button (the Windows logo on your taskbar), type the letters cmd, and press Enter. A black window will open. Type this exactly and press Enter: wmic bios get serialnumber
   Your serial number appears right below the words "SerialNumber."
5. If that command gives you nothing (some newer machines), the serial number is printed on a sticker on the bottom of your laptop or the back of your desktop tower. It may be labeled "Serial," "S/N," or "Service Tag" (Dell's name for it)
6. Year: unlike Apple, Windows does not display the year the machine was made. The quickest way to get it is to search the System Model in Google (for ex., "Dell Latitude 5540 release year"). Close enough is fine here; the model number is the part that matters most

Device Name (Hostname), IP Address, and MAC Address:

1. Click the Start button, type the letters cmd, and press Enter. A black window will open
2. Type this exactly and press Enter: ipconfig /all
3. A lot of text will appear, but you only need three lines:
   • Host Name is at the very top. That is your device name
   • Scroll to the section for your active connection ("Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi" if you are on Wi-Fi, "Ethernet adapter" if you are plugged in). Ignore any sections that say "Media disconnected"
   • In that section, Physical Address is your MAC address, and IPv4 Address is your IP address

Heads up: the Physical Address from ipconfig /all is the real MAC address unless "Random hardware addresses" was manually turned on in Wi-Fi settings.
